Latest update :U.S. Import Tariffs on Vehicles

Dear Valued Customers,

We’re writing to inform you of critical new guidance issued by U.S. Customs
and Border Protection today (CSMS #66319804) that affects all Japan vehicle
imports, including those 25+ years old.

Key Changes – Effective Immediately

U.S. Customs has issued updated entry filing instructions that mandate the
application of replacement duties on all qualifying imports from Japan. This
supersedes our previous communication regarding classification options.

The new requirements are:

. Passenger vehicles (previously 2.5% duty): Now subject to
mandatory 15% total duty
. Cargo vehicles (25% duty): No change – remains at 25%

What This Means

Unfortunately, the option we previously offered to file without the reciprocal tariff
is no longer available. All Japan imports with a Column 1 duty rate below 15%
must now be filed at the 15% replacement duty rate per CBP’s updated
guidance.

This means:

. The classification choice we announced last month is superseded by
this mandatory requirement
. All vehicles must be filed with the replacement duty included
. This applies uniformly across all U.S. ports of entry

Next Steps

For vehicles already in transit or scheduled to ship, we will apply the mandatory
15% duty rate as required by CBP.

We understand this news is disappointing and appreciate your patience as we
work through these regulatory challenges together.

If you have questions about how this affects your specific shipments, please
don’t hesitate to contact us at Info@autohubusa.co.

Sincerely,
Autohub USA
